About the event

World War II (1939–1945) was a global conflict involving most major nations, fought primarily between the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan) and the Allies (including Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union). London, as the capital of Britain, became both a strategic command center and a frontline city. It endured the Blitz (1940–41), when German bombers targeted civilians and landmarks in an effort to break morale, yet the city’s resilience became a symbol of defiance.


At the heart of Britain’s wartime leadership was Winston Churchill, who became Prime Minister in 1940. Renowned for his stirring speeches and unwavering determination, Churchill inspired Londoners—and the wider nation—to resist Nazi aggression. His leadership, combined with the city’s endurance, played a crucial role in sustaining Allied efforts through Britain’s darkest hours.
